《８To The Library》
Airi seemed to be very happy to be with me, and I could see that she was more excited than usual.
It was uneventful on the way to the library.
There was an elderly man at the reception desk of the library, who was helping Airi with the entry procedures.
In the meantime, I was a bit bored and looked around the library, trying to find a place to read while I was waiting.
Soon I found an information board that said which books were where, so I figured out where the books I was interested in were.
It seemed that the admission procedure was over, and Airi came scuttling towards me
I said to Airi, 「Shall we go that way?」 and we move off together.
When I arrived at the section I want to visit, I chose the book I wanted to read from the bookshelf.
However, since I am only three years old, I can’t reach the books on the top shelf by myself. In those cases, I asked Airi to get it for me. I felt sorry for myself, but I knew my height would only grow in the future! So, I told myself.
After reading various books and gaining knowledge, I found out first that this world is called 『Terra』1.
As I recall, the Terra is also called Earth, right? Maybe there’s some kind of connection between Earth and Terra and that’s why I was reincarnated in this world. I don’t have any books about the Earth, so I can only imagine what it’s like.
If there are other places besides the library where I can read valuable books, I might as well check them out.
However, would I ever get the chance to go into a place like that? I don’t know.
Should I start thinking about that when I have the chance to do so?
I’ll summarize what else I found out.
There are copper coins, silver coins, gold coins, platinum coins, and mithril platinum coins, in ascending order of value, and 10 of lower value coins are the same as the next higher value.
A typical inn would cost five copper coins for a room for one person for two days and a night, and about 20 gold coins would allow for an average family of four to live for a year.
I don’t have the clearest picture of it, but it’s okay for now because I’ll know when I start earning money on my own.
Next up are Race and Country.
The main races in this world are the human race, the beastman race, the elf race, the dwarf race, the demon race, and the spirit race.
It is said that the beastman, elf, dwarf, and demon races are collectively called the demi-human race, but this is a derogatory term for the races, so be careful.
The Spirit race is a unique race of invisible, small spirits that exist throughout the world, and have evolved, on rare occasions, to become self-aware and move from the spirit world. The spirit world is ruled by the spirit king.
In a rare case, one could make a contract with a spirit, they call it a spirit contract.
This is when a spirit tribe uses something called a contract crest to link their soul with a person they like.
When this happens, there are benefits such as increased magic power and reduced magic MP consumption.
It seems that there are other perks or things that you can do, but there were no details on them.
This probably has something to do with the fact that spirit contracts are rare.
It is said that the spirit world is not on this continent, but in some other alternate space, but I don’t know where.
The features of each Race are as follows.
【Human Race】
The most dominant race in Terra, both in population as well as landmass.
In some countries, humans abhor the demi-human race.
HP and other abilities are average among all races.
【Beastman Race】
Strictly speaking, there is a wide range of races, such as werewolves, dogs, cats, etc., but they are collectively called beastman.
They have a strong sense of camaraderie.
If you look at it as an average value per Race, their physical ability is the highest.
The downside is that they can’t use any magic other than Body Reinforcement magic. This may be due to the poor evolution of organs that release magic from the body. It seems that long ago, the beastman race was able to use magic, these kinds of things can happen in this world. This phenomenon is called regressive atavism.
【Elven Race】
The elves have the highest average magical aptitude out of the races.
Many of them love the forest and are good at archery.
It is said that many of them are also beautiful and are dignified in appearance.
【Dwarven Race】
Many of them are good with their hands and like to forge and make magical tools. They also love to drink.
They are short, and the men have beards and moustaches and are hairy. Women, on the contrary, have no beard and little body hair.
【Demon Race】
Strictly speaking, there are a wide variety of races, such as succubus, demon, and vampire, but they are collectively called the demon race.
Although the characteristics change between races, they basically have high physical abilities and high magical aptitude. The average of all abilities is the highest among all Races.
【Spirit Race】
This is the Race that the little spirits evolved from, the little spirits are not part of the spirit race.
Basically, they live in the spirit world, and if they find someone they like, they make a contract with them and appear in our realm.
Although there have been very few sightings, there are some of the spirit races on this continent though they seem to have little to no contract with us.
Terra has only one large continent, and within that continent, there are eight countries.
【Ustenia Kingdom】
It is ruled by a human king.
The human race is the most numerous in the kingdom, with a small number of beastman, elf and dwarf races also living there.
【Midogal Kingdom】
It is ruled by a human king.
The human race is the most numerous in the kingdom, with a small number of beastman, elf and dwarf races also living there.
【Stania Empire】
It is ruled by a human king.
The human race is the most common, with each of the other races also present, but they are slaves.
【Holy See of Erengarde】
It is ruled by the Pope of the human race.
Due to the exclusivity of the Erengardian religion to non-human races, no other Race lives within sight.
【Farmilan Kingdom】
It is ruled by a beastman king.
The beastman tribe is the most common, with a small number of humans, elves and dwarves also live there.
【Fall Kingdom】
It is ruled by an elven king.
Since the elves are a Race with many exclusive personalities, only a very small number of other Races live in the area as far as the eye can see.
【Getmyer Kingdom】
It is ruled by the Dwarven king.
Dwarves are the most common, followed by humans, with a small number of elves and demons also living in the area.
【Iblis Kingdom】
The demon king rules here.
The demon race is the most common, with a small number of beastman, elf, and dwarf races also living here.
The human race does not live openly here.
I think I’ll read a magic book next.
